A static golf mat isn't ideal. Range
mats tend to be either hard and unyielding (and may
cause injury) or too soft to resemble the real thing.
Consequently, when you get on course you find that
the swing which produced results at the range doesn't
seem to work.

‘I wanted to satisfy the need for
a consistent lie to work on my swing at the practice
field or range and also in my garden. In practice
areas, playing surfaces tended to be unreliable and I
often found it difficult to get a good lie without
continually having to move from place to place.
At the range, I practiced off the
provided mats but my swing suffered as I found I
could not hit the ball as consistently when I
returned to natural grass. Reverting to grass tees on
the range, I found that these were generally in poor
condition and could hardly be classed as grass –
not for long anyhow. Also, I wanted to practice at
home (especially my short game) but soon ruined the
lawn.
The idea for the new mat system was
conceived and worked so well that I applied for and
obtained my patent. I began to love practicing
because I no longer felt I had to compromise or
sacrifice anything – it was like hitting off a
fairway every time, whatever the condition of the
playing surface.
